What is Creative Group Therapy?
Creative Group Therapy is a safe and welcoming space where you can connect with others while exploring emotions through the creative arts. Developed by arts therapists, psychologists, artists, and researchers, we are using the toolkit from the Arts for the Blues programme which offers a creative approach to supporting people experiencing emotional difficulties.
Using visual arts, movement, creative writing and sound, we will explore thoughts and feelings in ways that do not rely solely on talking, helping you discover new ways to express yourself.
There will be an opportunity to connect with others and make sense of emotions in more depth, in a safe environment.
This type of therapy can help with:
😌Reducing depression, anxiety and emotional difficulties
💚Improving wellbeing and quality of life
🤝Meeting others
How do sessions work?
Starting therapy and meeting new people can feel overwhelming, so we are here to help you feel as comfortable and supported as possible.
To begin, we ask that you complete the assessment form at the bottom of this page. This helps us understand your needs and ensure that Creative Group Therapy is the right pathway for you. Once we have received your form, depending on your suitability, one of our therapists will arrange a telephone call to discuss your responses in more detail. Everything you share will be treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality, in line with our safeguarding policies and professional standards.
Depending on availability, you can choose to attend either a morning or afternoon group.
Each therapy session lasts for one hour, followed by 30 minutes for refreshments and informal connection with the group.
Once you have registered, we will provide you with a programme outlining the structure and themes of each session. Throughout the programme, we will work collaboratively with you and the group to ensure that everyone feels safe, supported and able to participate comfortably, in line with our ethical framework and values.
